Community Update

I've decided that I write better in chapter-sized chunks rather than scene-sized chunks, and so for the time being I think I'm gonna go back to releasing completed chapters. This one is rough-drafted all the way through, but a couple of scenes are giving me more problem than I thought. I'll have it for you guys as soon as I can. Meanwhile, I thought the time was ripe for another update on the goings-on across the Albatros Bits community. Here goes:

First-time fan-art submitter Melgar has drawn up a fearsome-looking sketch of Varimathras as he looks in Book Two - back to his old fearsome self. It's here.

Over in The Writers' Nest, a number of ongoing sagas continue to beat their way along their chosen paths - Keltor's Divine is approaching its one-year anniversary, Dakrim's Tale by Moorea rolls on through its eleventh chapter, and relative newcomer Samej begins his tale ENERVATION. (That story is on a temporary leave of absence until Samej's life settles down. I know the feeling.) There are also several one-off entries which have drawn attention from the Nest's regular readers - in particular, the lengthy and exquisitly-published An Illustrated Travelogue by forum newbie Destron deserves mention. (A PDF reader is required.) Other recent activity: the intriguing first post of Sabredurid's Rethiel's Guidance; a new Chapter One by veteran Nester Daclat called The Hunt for Ghostfang, which I quite enjoyed; and Moorea experiments with Hemingway's style in his short-story (and honorable mention from the Blizzcon contest) Fire of my Heart.

In World of Murloc (the official RPG of the fanfic), there's been a little bit of summer slow-down, but there is nonetheless activity in the Panda Pub (where you go to join the game and find adventure), and the game's only current adventure, The Haycart Job, is about to take an unexpected turn. Also deserving mention is GM Amaunator's sparkling new write-up of the game's ruleset.

Last but not least, the Lonelipedia, TMiL's own wiki, has seen some excellent work done since its launch back in April. Of special note are a trio of entries written up by Amaunator - Mr. Andrew Underwood, Tamilin the hippogryph (one of my favorite characters and an absolutely exemplary wiki-entry), and the cult of the Scarlet Resurrection. I think you'll find that in that last one, the section regarding the Chaos Line is ripe for updating since the release of the last chapter...

In all seriousness: if you've got a free afternoon and a hankering for community-building, I'm hoping to use the Lonelipedia's Characters page as a dramatis personae in the near future, and so it would be wildly appreciated by yours truly (*bows*) if you felt like hopping on and brushing up some of the characters' entries.

One last little forum-recounted endeavor which I can't wait to see come to fruition - Erikc has rigged up a machine that turns music into fire. It's pretty sweet. There's a rare forum poll ongoing as to what music he should feed to the beast next.

That's a whole lot more community update than I was planning on writing when I started this post - turns out there's a whole bunch going on hereabouts, and I couldn't be happier! And with that, I'm going to sit back with a cold drink and write me some Murloc.
