You want a sympathetic yet utterly !#$@ing badass bad guy? Check out Dominic Deegan's. Mookie (author of that site and comic) does absolutely fantastical things with convoluted plots, that put me and my little straight-forward hero journey to shame.
He does the comic full-time, and it is my fervent hope that he gets rich off of it because it's awesome in ways that things aren't usually awesome these days. So you guys should all go read up, digest it, and then grab some DD merchandise and help pay the dude's rent. =]
