Announcing - The Albatros Bits Blizzcon Short Story Contest
Monday, June 25, 2007 - 9:00 PM
My little website/experiment has always been home to my accidental fan-trilogy, and to a strong (and getting stronger) creative writing community. I've always hoped to be able to use this site and whatever infamy (or famy!) it has garnered to help other aspiring writers out - to find them, get them out in the open, and present them with a discerning audience.
I think that I now have an excellent opportunity to do so: with my two remaining Golden Blizzcon Tickets, I will be holding the Great 2007 Albatros Bits Blizzcon Short Story Contest! There are two categories - short fiction (500 - 1500 words) and short-short fiction (less than 500 words) - and the winner of each (as judged by me) will receive one of the two passes! (If you can't tell, I'm a little excited for this. I'm especially excited to see what people can cook up in less than five hundred words.)
To find out more, and to get all the submission guidelines and stuff, head over to the site's Blizzcon 2007 page. Now get writin'!
And the winner is...
Monday, June 25, 2007 - 8:30 PM
I'd like to thank everybody that entered and I'd like to thank all of you guys for being great fans.
I would like to congratulate forum-hound Sibane, whose name came out of the hat and who will be heading to Blizzcon along with me and a few thousand other people! Sibane, sir, take a bow: your slip of paper out-played, outlasted, outwitted all the others.
To everyone else: I'll be announcing the Albatros Bits Blizzcon Short Story Contest here in a few minutes, so make sure to check on back.
Blizzcon Pass Drawing!
Thursday, June 21, 2007 - 8:35 PM
The lovely (floating, on-fire) Nethaera, Wrangler of Fansites, has graciously given me several Blizzcon passes with which to do as I please. With a couple of them, I'm going to hold a Warcraft short-story contest, which I will be announcing next Monday. However, before that madness gets started, I wanted to step up and thank you folks, my loyal Regular Readers, for all of your love and support! (And/or support, I suppose.)
So, by way of fulfilling my urge to appreciate you folks, I will be giving away one Blizzcon ticket by drawing this coming Monday (June 25th). In order to enter the contest, all you have to do is submit yourself! If you're a member of the forum or don't mind registering real quick, then you can enter by submitting your name and your desire to be entered into the drawing, poetically or dramatically phrased, HERE. (AwesomePoints will be given for drama/poeticality.) If you'd like to enter but for whatever reason don't want to do so on the forum, feel free to do so by e-mail. A copy of the rules, written in fluent legalese, may be found on the forum entry thread, linked above.
In summary: if you wanna go to Blizzcon and all you need is a ticket, say so here or shoot me an e-mail, and if I pull your name out of a hat on Monday, that ticket is yours!

It's late! Late late and my eyes are slamming shut. I did the one last editorial pass on the chapter tonight, though, and so I will post it up before I retire to my all-too-short sleep. Et cetera.
Here is this week's chapter, the seventh in its book: Death's Doorstep. Only one more chapter and then the rewrite is officially complete (!) (!!!!!) and I can get back to droppin' crazy plot twists on you guys for my own amusement! Evil laugter, et cetera.
Monday, June 18, 2007 - 1:10 AM
I'll have Chapter VII up tomorrow or the next day, but tonight I thought I'd make an announcement: I'm goin to Blizzcon this year! I'm sorry I didn't manage to get this up before the tickets sold out, (which happened in like 72 hours, which is insane, but I guess that's what happens when you have six million people in the world playing your game), but if any of you guys are going you should let me know and we'll meet up! I'll be posting (hopefully) pictures and (almost certainly) words from the con, so hopefully I can post some fun stuff for you folks that won't be there, too.
I'm looking forward to the con - I hope to actually get to shake some hands finally of all the people that I've been writing about for two years now - Caydiem and Fangtooth and Ordinn and Feathers and the others who have and haven't gotten in the story yet. Plus maybe if Chris Metzen is there, I'll be able to worship him for a sec. Just in passing.
Chapter VI, part deux
Monday, June 11, 2007 - 11:55 PM
So, sorry I missed last week. There were a few terrifying days in there where I thought that I'd finally up and lost my motivation to write the story. But it came back with a vengeance, and I managed to whip off six pages of writing yesterday. (It felt good!)
And so, disaster averted, I present the second, longer, half of Chapter VI, whose name is now explained, and which is almost entirely new to the rewrite.
(Only two and a half more chapters left until I'm entirely done with it!)
